Introducing the Cross-Browser Browser: Site Inspector 4.0
FUERTH, Germany - Paessler® today released Site Inspector™ 4.0, the first Internet browser that combines the two most frequently used web browser engines—Internet Explorer and Mozilla-Gecko—into one program. In combination with advanced analysis features, this functionality makes Paessler Site Inspector the perfect companion for webmasters and web developers who need to be sure that their web pages work on all browsers.
With Site Inspector’s Analyzing Browser, users can switch between the two browser types with just one mouse click, e.g., to compare the rendering of a page in both browsers. The collection of analysis functions make analyzing and debugging web sites easy. They can be accessed inside the Analyzing Browser as well as in convenient toolbars that Site Inspector adds to Internet Explorer as well as the ever more popular Firefox browser.
The analysis functions are multifaceted; here is only a shortlist:
- For any given URL, users can access a list of images, forms, links, metatags and scripts of a web page as well as the HTML source and HTTP headers.
- Using the Highlight function, users can mark any HTML tag with a colored border inside the rendered web page (e.g., to show all TD tags in a page).
- A pixel grid can be shown on top of the page, and all image and link URLs can be shown in the web page.
- Various online resources (e.g., for CSS/HTML validation, link checking, etc.) are built in.
These features are new in version 4:
- Site Inspector's toolbar is now integrated into the two most popular web browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and Firefox. The analysis functions are only a click away, regardless of which browser users employ.
- A wealth of new functions for highlighting and hiding specific HTML tags as well as inserting additional information into the web page are included.
- All features work under Windows XP Service Pack 2.
- Stability and performance were further increased by a complete rewrite of the toolbar and analysis codes.
