What environment is needed to run Webserver Stress Tool?

Webserver Stress Tool runs under Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003 on any hardware capable of running Windows.
The preferred operating environment is Windows XP/2000/2003 on a workstation with a fast processor (x Ghz), at least 512 MB RAM, and a fast network connection.
The target webservers can be of any operating system.
The web server to be tested and the machine running Webserver Stress Tool should be very close in a network-topology perspective, preferrable on the same switch. Try to have as few network systems between client and server as possible, otherwise you will never know whether you are actually testing your network or the server. Out of the same reason it is not recommended to run load tests via proxy servers.
