PING is commonly said to stand for Packet Internet Groper - although the original author of PING has said that the name actually comes from the sound that a sonar makes. A PING utility verifies the connection to one or more remote hosts by sending a packet (a piece of a message) to a specified IP address, and then waiting for a reply. PING utilities are useful for determining whether a distant computer is successfully linked to the network, whether a particular IP address exists and is currently working, and for checking how fast a connection is. A PING utility can also be used for diagnosing IP network or router failures.
IPCheck Server Monitor is a Windows-based tool that makes it easy to detect network and website failures early. It uses a variety of different sensors, among them PING, PORT, HTTP, and DNS, to monitor devices and servers located on the Internet, on Intranets, and on VPN networks.
Does your company rely on a network or website to make money? If that is the case, you know how important a reliable monitoring solution is. IPCheck Server Monitor is the PING utility that does more than detect failure as it happens. With IPCheck, you can monitor all kinds if performance issues, and find out about problems before they get serious.
